a safe place between cultures to chat about books
Coolest review ever, Mitali! Congrats. Love Phantom.
Thanks, Kelly. I got to meet The Phantom face to face. It's strange and wonderful to encounter someone from cyber-space in real time. It's surreal, like you've shifted between parallel universes or galaxies.
You have no idea how relieved I am that you find the tales of vomit funny. It ain't exactly Michiko Kakutani, you know? But I swear I am not making this up: my son told me this afternoon, "You know, Mama, Rickshaw Girl was a good book. It was a good book for taking medicine!"
When you write for kids you want to hear what kids think about your story, so thank you and thank your son, too. I can't believe how many people read your blog, Phantom. You are a cyber-lebrity!
You must be so proud, Mitali.
I'm still in the throes of composing my acceptance speech ... (no pun intended) ... it's coming in bits and pieces and chunks (pun intended, sorry).
